ST. LOUIS BASSBUSTERS

I

t was not “April Fools” for the anglers and Scouts that turned out for the St. Louis Bassbusters–Boy Scouts of America Fishing Tournament on Sunday April 1, 2007. The Bassbusters and the Venture Crew from BSA Troop 2631 joined in a fishing tournament, intended to promote fishing among the younger set. Venture Crew members are scouts from fourteen to twenty years old and are at least high school freshmen. The program is designed to allow young men to continue their participation in scouting. Of those participating in this tournament, four were Eagle Scouts and one was a Life Scout who soon will have his review by the Eagle Board.

The members of St. Louis Bassbusters, enjoy the company of young people and are interested in outdoor activities separate from fishing. This combination of interests, made for a fun and exciting day on Lake of the Ozarks. Every boat caught at least one keeper fish and the winners had a five fish limit weighing 12.4 pounds. The team of Emil DeLuca and Danny Moller took first place and received plaque’s provided by the Bassbusters.

The Big Bass of the event was weighed by the team of Dave Franklyn and Rici Gosh, it hit the scale at four pounds.

Everyone expressed their satisfaction and enjoyment of the event and their desire to do it again next year!

Rici Gosh and his partner, Dave Franklyn, had this four pound largemouth for big bass honors. It came out of the Grand Glaize Arm while swimming a jig. Both fishermen testified to a fun day on the water!
